Went out for a meal here with some friends just wandering around Aix looking for something to eat. Please don't take my 4 star review as a reason not to visit as I would still recommend here. We opted for Japanese as that what we were feeling and this was the closest one with good reviews so we were expecting good things. It was slighly difficult to find because the 'Hitkuchi' sign is slightly hidden but what you can see is Le Bistro Japonais so we assumed they were the same thing which they were. Inside they had a pretty standard interior, nothing striking. We came without a booking and they were able to seat us without issue. We were given a menu and were given time to choose our food. We went for two tantamen ramens and a large sharing board of sushi and other bits between the three of us. Thanksfully one of our party was French so we was able to engage with the waiting staff on our behalf and from what I observed there was absolutely no issues there. Our drinks arrived first, I had a sake which might have been a bit spoiled because it had a funky smell and taste I wasn't used to and I've had a lot of sake having been to Japan before. Perhaps I was the first person to drink it in a long time! The food arrived shortly after and it was mostly eaten in short order. Both the ramen dishes were good albeit slightly right but perhaps we made the mistake of ordering tantamen ramen which has a richer broth. Tastewise they were strongly chicken flavoured and that seemed to overpower everything. The garnishes were good with the egg and radish and the noodles were cooked nicely. The sharing platter was delicious and had a great mix of japanese sushi, yakitori, gyoza and tempura. They weren't perfect replications but did the job no less! Overall, it's pretty good Japanese food for France at a reasonable price point given the portions so I will be visiting again to try more of the dishes and maybe improve my rating!

Très agréablement surprise par ce restaurant, la possibilité de goûter de nombreux plats en petites portions (parfait pour les gens qui aiment tester pleins de choses), une bonne qualité des plats homogène, bien assaisonnés, un service agréable et rapide, boisson également très bonne (matcha latte en l'occurrence). Seuls les ramens auraient pu être un poil plus relevés en goût, mais globalement c'est un sans faute pour moi !
